5 TakeAways From Blogher14 (3)

I came back from BlogHer tired and refreshed at the same time. At the end of Saturday night when we walked at home, my new blogging BFF asked me what the best takeaway was and I told her meeting you. And she totally called me out for being so sappy. It sounds just as silly now when I typed it out but here are my serious five best takeaways.

A cross-country flight with two young children was worth 90 minutes of seeing my girls.  I wrote this post earlier and I got to see most of my girls. Plus a few more that I didn’t even know I needed to see. There’s something about being in the company of likeminded women that just renews me. It’s the little interactions that would make this trip more than worth it. Not to mention, there’s some information that we shared and connections we’ve made that keep things going on.

Merck for Mothers is a project I want to be involved with. One of my conference tips is do everything and I’m so glad I went to the Merck for Mothers talk. Here’s my full recap of it. It has changed my life and how I’ll approach my mommy to be friends.

SO MANY (3)

Carolyn Sonnek is awesome! Seriously, she gave a mini-talk in the WordPress booth on the “Best Plugins for Taking Your Blog to the Next Level”. I loved being able to talk with her and she even troubleshot with me onsite for a few of my specific issues. Here’s the link to her recap on her blog here.

WordPress With Carolyn

No is a complete sentence. –  Ariana Huffington shared this during her Saturday morning keynote. I totally needed to be reminded of that. I don’t owe anyone any explanations about why I choose to allocate my time as I do.

NO (2)

Don’t read the comments. I heard it and didn’t know that I’d be in the middle of one of those posts so soon. I know that I’m a whole lot of good things, so I’m not going to read the comments. I just keep telling myself that.

I’ve read lots of other recaps and everyone had a different experience. Were there things I wish would have been different? Of course. The swag wasn’t overwhelming, the sessions were okay and even the keynotes were good, not life changing like others I’ve been in. I thought it was a good conference though. Would I attend again? I think so. It would depend seriously on the location and timing but overall, I do think I would return again.

Were you at BlogHer14? If so, what did you think? Will you go again? What have you heard from others about it?
